14/5/2017 21 Comments LETS TALK ABOUT...PERIODSLet's talk periods, the one thing a lot of people are afraid to talk about. And tbqh so am I....but why are we so worried to talk about such a natural and pure thing that every woman has to deal with.
Is it because we are worried what others will think? Is it because are emotions are so high we get extra paranoid? Or because we are scared what the boys will think about us? This day and age, it's very hard to speak the truth, considering we are a free country. As it should be okay to inform your friends and family that you may seem a bit emotional because you're on 'your period', but we don't. However some may have the confidence and courage to say so, but no a lot do. I know that some man out there do have some idea of what happens during a period, or what women have to go through. On the other hand, there is a lot, a lot of people who don't give a shit really, especially your boss... The hardest part for me when I am on my period, is going a public toilet, whether it's work, college, or a friends house. I get super paranoid, and I hate it. I just worry too much... But the thing is, it's not just me who feels this, a lot of woman and young girls go through the same. I remember when I was in year 7, and I was around the age of 12. All my friends were getting their periods and I was jealous, I wanted it so bad. Then BAM, within a week I started. I'm sure that a lot of young girls wish for it, because all of their friends are getting it, and you wanna feel cool, and grown up. But the thing is, you don't want it at such a young age. You need to stay a child as long as you can, don't rush you childhood. Because when you get to my age, there's a lot going on. Also your periods become more frequent. Every woman should be proud to have their periods, because it's, unique and special. Also it brings a new life into this world... You know I have read a lot of articles, saying woman should get time off work when their on their periods. Yes, that would be lovely. You can sit at home with a hot water bottle on your tummy and eating tons of junk food. But is it practical? Think about it, is it practical? Because while your at home feeling sorry for yourself, everyone else is in work, doing your job, and you're missing out big time. And you are missing 12 weeks a year...Thats a lot. Also some woman don't have periods, whether thats because of menopause, the pill or a medical issue, and its not fair on them if they can't get time off because they don't have their periods for a reason that can't be helped...Do you get where I'm coming from? I feel that people shouldn't be embarrassed to talk about periods or be worried because you think people will know that you're on and you don't want them to know. See, the problem with me is I worry when in the toilet incase anyone comes in and I get embarrassed because they might know whats going on. BUT!!!! Im in a GIRLS bathroom, who all experience and know what its like. However I do know that a lot girls can be bitchy about it. But you know that you're not the only one. One thing that really winds me up is how expensive ladies items are. Actually no, what I really mean is tampons and sanitary towels. See this is the world we live in, where we are too embarrassed to say TAMPONS and TOWELS. Instead we all say 'ladies things/items' or we whisper 'I need some "things"'. Just say it! The works tampons and towels, are not rude and won't offend anyone. Its just a goddamn word that everyone needs to learn to say it out loud without worrying. Anyway, back to the expensive side of periods. How ridiculous is the pricing of tampons and towels? Its disgraceful! Especially is you're homeless, or a bit low on cash. What do you do? Some places sell them for £12... Yes, you read that right 12 bloody pound!!! Although you can get some for £1.99, but how do you know if they are going to be good enough. Anyway, thats the end of my little rant of periods. Have a nice day. :)
